Mainly obtained as a by-product from petrochemical processes (steam cracking, FCC, dehydrogenation)
Major Applications
1. Polypropylene (PP) Production
The largest use (consumes over 60% of global propylene)
Used for plastic containers, films, automotive parts, home appliances, etc.
2. Chemical Feedstock
Acrylonitrile (for fibers, ABS plastics)
Propylene oxide (for polyurethane, glycols)
Cumene (for phenol and acetone production)
Isopropanol (IPA, used in cleaning agents, solvents)
3. Fuel and Others
Component of LPG mixtures
Raw material for synthetic rubber, paints, adhesives
